Approaching a turn: When approaching a turn the examiner will monitor you for traffic checks. You should check traffic ahead, left , right and to the rear before you reach each corner. You should look toward or make eye contact with other drivers or pedestrians.
Activate your turn signal at least 100 feet before a turn. Signaling too early or too late may confuse other drivers
When approaching a turn, reduce your speed and apply brakes smoothly.
Proceed through the turn unless you are required to stop because of other vehicles. Do not hesitate unnecessarily.
Stopping before you turn: If you need to stop before you make a turn, be sure to leave enough room in front of you. You should be able to see the rear tires of the vehicle in front of you, or enough room to go around if it stalls. Defensive driving means keeping a safe zone around you.
When stopping always stop before the line painted on the road, of there is no stop line, stop before the crosswalk. Remember pedestrians have right of way.
If you are turning left keeep the wheel of your vehicle straight until you start the turn. If your wheels are turned you could be pushed into traffic if someone hit you from the rear.
Completing the turn: Before you begin your turn check traffic ahead, to the left and right.
Accelerate at a safe speed through the turn.
Enter and complete the turn from the correct lane. Maintain proper position in the lane. Do not turn so wide or short that your turn interferes with other lanes of traffic.
Intersections requiring you to stop: Check traffic both ways and to the rear before you reach the corner.
Reduce speed and apply your brakes smoothly as you approach the intersection. Keep your vehicle centered in the proper lane. Be sure to leave enough room in front of you.
Always stop before the painted stop line or if there is not one before the crosswalk.
Approaching intersections that do not require a stop: Slow down and be ready to stop if traffic does not yield to you. Keep your vehicle centered in your lane
Check traffic both ways before driving through an intersection. Yield to traffic on your right.
Unless you are required to stop because of other vehicles proceed through the intersection.
Driving in a business or residential area: Check your rearview mirror every 6-8 seconds. Maintain speed that is compatible with existing traffic and road conditions. Do not exceed the posted speed limit. Leave a safe space in front of and to the side of your vehicle.

Changing Lanes: Do not change lanes in an intersection.
Check traffic to the left right and rear before changing lanes.
Activate your turn signal letting other drivers know you intend to change direction.
Check the blind spot by looking over your shoulder in the direction you intend to go.
Your lane change should be done smoothly and without impeding traffic (maintain speed)
Right of way should be given to traffic already in the lane
Leave a safe space in front of and to the rear of your vehicle. (adjust your speed accordingly)
Approaching the Y-turn: As you pull over to the curb glance to the rear and check over your right shoulder for traffic. Activate your turn signal to let other drivers know you’re pulling over.
Performing the Y-turn:
Check for traffic and your left blind spot before leaving the curb. Activate your left turn signal to left other drivers know you are leaving the curb.
Once your vehicle as across the street check both to the left and right to make sure it’s clear before you begin backing the vehicle.
Turn on your right turn signal and look behind you as you back. Back up until you are far enough that you can go forward and complete the turn. Activate your left turn signal check traffic up and down the road again before completing the Y-turn.
Pulling over to the curb:
Activate your blinker in the direction you intend to go.
Check traffic to your rear and your blind spot before moving to the curb.
Pull over slowly and smoothly stopping your vehicle parallel within in 12 inches of the curb.
Pulling out from the curb: activate your blinker to let traffic know you intend to pull out.
Check your blind spot and mirrors prior to pulling out.
Accelerate smoothly pull into traffic your vehicle should be in the proper lane and not over the center line.
Performing the backing maneuver: Back in a straight line. You should be turned looking over your right shoulder out the rear of the vehicle. Back no faster than a slow walk.
Parking lots: You should not drive over the parking spaces. Always yield to pedestrians. Use your blinkers. GO SLOW.
Stopping the road test or actions that will result in a disqualification.

Do not look for traffic or slow down at uncontrolled intersection
Violate any law or perform a dangerous act including but not limited to:

Driving over the posted speed limit

Disobeying traffic signs or signals

Driving in a lane meant for oncoming traffic

Turning into or from an improper lane
-
Failing to yield right of way

Jumping (or going over) the curb
-
Ignoring examiners warning
-
Not having control of the vehicle
-
Failing to enter an intersection on a green light when it is safe to do so affecting other traffic.

Are involved in an accident
-
Demonstrate a lack of driving skill, knowledge or ability

Accumulate more than 25 points
